Bonfire Night Safety Guidance and Community Bonfire Arrangements

Notice to all residents of Glenbrae:

With Bonfire Night approaching on 5 November, the Community Council and the local fire brigade have issued safety guidance and confirmed arrangements for the community bonfire and fireworks display on the village playing fields.

Community Bonfire and Fireworks

The community bonfire will be lit at 6:30 pm, with the fireworks display beginning at 7:00 pm. The event is free to attend, though donations to the Community Fund will be collected at the gate. The Village Hall committee will serve soup, hot dogs, and home baking from the tea tent.

The bonfire will be built on the playing fields from Friday 31 October. Residents are asked to bring suitable material — dry wood, branches, and cardboard only — to the designated area. No plastics, aerosols, or treated timber should be added.

Safety Guidance

The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service advises that the safest way to enjoy fireworks is at an organised display. For those holding private displays, please follow the Firework Code: keep fireworks in a closed box, light them at arm’s length with a taper, never return to a lit firework, and keep a bucket of water nearby.

Pets should be kept indoors during fireworks displays. The Community Council asks all residents to be mindful of livestock and horses in the surrounding fields, and to avoid setting off fireworks after 9:00 pm.
