Planning Application: Proposed Visitor Centre at Brae Distillery

Notice to all residents of Glenbrae:
A planning application has been submitted to Highland Council for the construction of a new visitor centre and café at Brae Distillery, Main Street, Glenbrae. The application (reference HC/2026/0147) is available for public inspection.
Application Details
The proposed development includes a single-storey visitor centre of approximately 280 square metres, a café seating thirty-two people, a retail area, and associated parking for twenty vehicles and two coaches. The design uses local stone and timber cladding to reflect the architectural character of the existing distillery buildings.
The applicant, Brae Distillery Ltd, states that the development will create eight full-time jobs and support the distillery’s bicentenary celebrations and future growth. The Community Council will hold a public meeting to discuss the application on Thursday 24 July at 7:30 pm in the Village Hall.

Written representations may be made to Highland Council Planning Department, quoting reference HC/2026/0147, no later than Friday 8 August 2026. Comments may be submitted online through the Highland Council planning portal or by post. All representations will be acknowledged and made publicly available.
