Temporary Road Closure: Glen Road Bridge Maintenance

July 5, 2026

Notice to all residents and road users:

Glen Road will be closed to all traffic between the Village Hall and the distillery entrance from Monday 4 August to Friday 22 August 2026, to allow essential maintenance of the old stone bridge over the River Brae.

Diversion Route

A signed diversion will be in place via Lochside Road and School Lane. Access for emergency vehicles and residents within the closure zone will be maintained at all times, though delays may occur. Pedestrian access across the bridge will remain available throughout the works.

The maintenance work, commissioned by Highland Council, involves repointing the bridge’s stone arch, repairing the parapet, and installing new drainage. The bridge, which dates from 1862, was last refurbished in 1974.

Further Information

The works will be carried out by Highland Council’s bridges team, with working hours from 7:00 am to 6:00 pm, Monday to Friday. No weekend working is anticipated. For enquiries about the road closure, contact Highland Council Roads Department on 01349 555 200.
